From the cozy, fully equipped holiday apartments, you can start on foot or by bike for exciting tours or scenic walks and hikes. Take a walk along South Tyrol’s most beautiful irrigation channel paths, called Waalwege, admire the apple blossoms during a leisurely hike, or conquer the surrounding mountain peaks. Our Residence Geringerhof is located near public transport, allowing you to explore all of South Tyrol free of charge. After an eventful day, unwind in our Mediterranean garden oasis, where a saltwater pool and sunbathing lawn offer the perfect place to relax and recharge.

South Tyrol’s Most Beautiful Waalweg Paths
In a 5-minute walk from the accommodation, you can find the entrance of the Schenna Waalweg path (irrigation channel trails). These are not just historic irrigation channels but also peaceful paths that invite you to a meditative hiking experience. The Schenna Waalweg path enchants with breathtaking views over the Merano region. A paradise for families and pleasure hikers who want to enjoy the beauty of nature to the fullest. If you’d like to take a longer walk, we recommend the paths along the irrigation channels in and around Merano (Meraner Waalrunde). It’s a circular hiking route that connects the most beautiful Waalweg paths in the Merano region. Meran to Algund, Riffian, Schenna to Lana.
Refreshing Kneipp-Parcours in Summer
Just a short walk from our residence, at the entrance to the picturesque Schenna Waalweg, you'll find a refreshing Kneipp trail, which is perfect for the warmer months. Beautifully integrated into the natural surroundings, the Kneipp station offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In addition to the classic water stepping, you'll find other Kneipp elements such as arm baths and barefoot paths, all designed to promote well-being. The combination of water, nature, and physical activity makes the Kneipp trail in Schenna a revitalizing experience for all the senses.
Schenna as a top starting point for hikes and walks
Would you prefer a mountain adventure in the Meran 2000 hiking area or hiking up to Schenna’s local mountain, the majestic Ifinger? The sunny high plateau of Meran 2000 offers everything from leisurely walking trails to challenging summit hikes.
The breathtaking panoramic views from the top of the Ifinger are sure to conquer every hiker’s heart. Another hiking tip: Take the cable car up to the Hirzer high plateau and hike from alpine hut to alpine hut or immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes surrounded by the Texelgruppe Nature Park while exploring the beautiful area around Dorf Tirol.

The apple blossom in Schenna is an impressive natural spectacle that attracts many guests every year in spring. When the apple orchards are sprinkled in pink and white colors, the landscape transforms in a bloomy paradise. Visit Schenna Castle, the Old Parish Church, and the Mausoleum of Archduke Johann! Built in 1350, Schenna Castle is a true gem and not only from the outside. In fact, inside, it houses fascinating treasures from past times: there you can find everyday objects but also weapons from six centuries and paintings by renowned Tyrolean artists. You have to visit the Romanesque parish church with its Baroque high altar and precious Late Gothic sculptures.
Additionally, the Gothic mausoleum stands out for its impressive architecture and stunning windows, making it a real highlight for lovers of history and art.
Schenna in Bloom and other events
Especially in spring and summer, Schenna surprises you with various event calendars. As part of the event series “Schenna in bloom,” food and wine tastings, concerts, and accompanied hikes are organized from March to May. But there are also other events in and around Schenna. You can find the actual dates for the events here.
Excursion to Meran and Bozen
Have you ever been to the Mediterranean-alpine city of Merano and the multifaceted city of Bolzano? Discover the promenades, the unique Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, or take a walk along the arcades of the imperial city. Or what about a wellness day at the thermal baths of Meran(o)? Two steps from our holiday apartment and you are in the thermal city. The capital city of the province is also worth a visit, be it for its interesting Museum of Archeology or the Museum of Natural Science. Also, very nice for a leisurely stroll are the charming alleyways of the city.
What about a trip beyond the province's borders?
A gondola ride in Venice, Dolce Vita at Lake Garda, or a visit to the neighbor province, Trentino? The Tourism Association of Schenna organizes interesting trips for our guests from time to time. For additional impressions and adventures of your vacation!

Good To Know
- On the day of arrival, your room will be ready by 2 p.m. On the day of your departure, we ask you to leave your apartment before 9:30 a.m.
- A tourist tax of 3,30 € has to be paid directly at the accommodation. Children under 14 years are excluded from the tourist tax.
- With the Südtirol Guest Pass, you can use the following means of transport free of charge:
- all regional trains in South Tyrol (from Brenner to Trento and from Malles to San Candido)
- the Schenna hiking bus
- all local buses (city, intercity and city buses)
- the cable cars to Ritten, Meransen, Kohlern, Mölten and Vöran
- the Ritten tramway and the funicular to Mendola
- the PostBus Switzerland between Malles and Müstair
- Pets are allowed upon request and pay 8 € per night. Please ask us in advance if you can bring yours! Please note that pets are not allowed to stay in our garden.
- Cancellations up to 60 days before the planned arrival date are free of charge.Cancellations between 30 and 59 days before arrival will be charged with three days of the booked stay. Cancellations between 20 and 30 days before arrival will result in a charge of 60% of the total booking value.Cancellations within 20 days before arrival or early departure will result in a 100% cancellation fee.It may well happen that a vacation does not start or has to be interrupted unexpectedly. We recommend taking out Europäische Reiseversicherung travel insurance.
- Every holiday apartment is a non-smoking area, which means that smoking is not permitted.
- Your reservation is binding when confirmed in written form by both sides. For a long-term booking we charge a deposit of 30 % of the total amount. Please confirm your arrival a few days in advance.
- Geringerhof is open to our guests from March to November.

How to Find Us
Welcome to Schenna!
The Geringerhof is located about 1.5 km from the village center. Once you arrive in Schenna, turn off the main road (Schenna Straße) onto St. Georgener Straße. After a short drive, take the next left onto Pichler Straße. From there, it’s just another 3–4 minutes until you reach the Geringerhof.
